To be honest, I did not read much during 2015. During the first half I read several bad books, but I blamed it on me and decided to wait for something different. I even started a few book that were not appealing and took me a few weeks/months to read the first three chapters, to find myself finishing the whole book in two days. But this changed when I finally got Girlboss! To be honest, I was not fully convinced… the idea of getting a book by someone that is not a writer scared me. But it was on sale at Target, and I felt that with my little store, it could be a source of inspiration. And it definitely was! This is the perfect book to read if you are starting your own business or just want to be a #GIRLBOSS. It was great to learn how Nasty Gal started and all the things Sophia Amoruso had to go throw to build her company!
After #GIRLBOSS, I just wanted to keep reading books like it… but there are not many. I bought a few business like books that are ok, but do not compare to how good this one is. So I decided to go with Mindy Kaling’s book! I absolutely love her and she is so funny and inspirational! And it did not disappoint! I bought the Target edition that comes with pop-out “Quotable Mindy” cards inside, but I do not want to break the book while removing them… so they are still inside. This book was impossible to put down… and I honestly was LOL’ing while reading it! My favorite chapter was the “One of the president men” one… I want to watch a movie with that storyline! The whole book was amazing, and one of those that when you finish reading they make you wish you would live in a world where you are BFF’s with the author, even though Jocelyn (Mindy’s real BFF) says she is “a good friend, but not that great” (p.47).
Another awesome book I read during 2015 is Mr. Kiss and Tell from the Veronica Mars series. First, I must let you know that I’m obsessed with Veronica Mars. I love the TV show and the first book of the series, so it was obvious I would love this book. It has everything you would want want and more. And because it is a mystery book, I do not want to spoil it by saying to much about it. The only thing thing I can tell you is to read it! 🙂
