First of all, no. I was not able to attend NYFW this year, but gladly I can find everything about it online. Like this, I’m able to check my favorite designers, their gorgeous shows, and the amazing street style. Check my 5 favorite things from NYFW Spring 2017:
#1 STREET STYLE
If you have been reading my blog for some time, then you know that Street style is my all time favorite thing. You get to see how people play with their clothes and find new ways of styling things in your closet. Yes, sometimes they try a little bit too hard… but even then it is still fun! My favorite street style photographer is Phil Oh, his pictures are always the best and these are a few of my favorites from this season.
I have been to a few fashion week shows and even took some classes on how to host a runway show. So, I have to admit I’m not easily impressed. But Holly Cow! The Tommy Hilfiger Carnival show still has me amazed!!! I really wish I could have been there. Not only because of the donuts and the fact that Taylor Swift was there, but also the games, the TommyxGigi pop-up store, the temporary tattoo booth. Everything seemed so amazing!
It is true that I sometimes hate presentations. After a long day going from show to show, it can be annoying to not get a seat and instead have to walk around the models. This is nothing compared to the major seat drama that occurs at the runway shows which can be even more annoying. I think presentations are a great way to show the upcoming collections in a faster way. Also, it is always fun to see all the look together! This takes me back to fashion school where I all the pieces inside a collection had to be connected and make sense together. For me, seeing all their designs next to each other is somehow more interesting than a runway show.
I loved all the pieces at J. Crew and Banana Republic, but my favorite thing were the models at J.Crew. I’m glad I finally get to see how their clothes will look on everyday girls!
#4 OFF-THE-SHOULDER, LACE, AND MORE!
YAY!!! Some of my favorite trends will still be present next year! These Tory Burch pieces have me wishing for a summer trip to Greece and even more white tops in my wardrobe! Of course, you know by now that I’m obsessed with everything self-portrait. You can check my little wishlist here, which soon will add these two beautiful pieces! To be honest, I’m getting some major DIY vibes from the last dress. It would not be difficult to make a lace add-on for a shirt dress…
#5 THE DAYDREAMING PIECES
Every year, NYFW succeeds in delivering a huge amount of dreamy pieces. Marchesa and Monique Lhuillier always make the most perfect and breath-taking gowns that I will never ever get to wear. Gowns that have me wishing I could try them on and dance until midnight! I’m loving the bell sleeves in these dressy looks and the fun Jenny Packham look -that I wish would magically appear in my closet! The Alice and Olivia striped dress is the most attainable one, a beautiful and fun piece with a high price tag. It would make for a great little splurge for a special event.
