It is funny to think that back in Argentina, I would have never even thought about buying a new planner in August. School years are different over there and we have our summer holidays during December-March. Because of this, our school years are from March till November and we mostly use our planners in those dates. To be honest, in school you only really need a planner to write down homework assignments and exam dates. In college is pretty much the same, plus the added social events and friends parties.
In my adult life though, it is crazy how much stuff I have to include in my planner! And I do not even have kids! This helps me understand why my mom’s planner was such a mess and why I did not need a planner back in school. I even have events already scheduled for the first months of 2017! So not only am I being introduced to the need for a new planner by the “Back to School” commercials, but also but my messy/busy adult life. And it seems that I have to give in and buy my new planner in August- instead of getting it as a Christmas gift like I used to do back in Buenos Aires.
All this, brings me to another very important question: Which planner should I buy?! There are so many beautiful options out there. Do I want stickers? I love those, but barely ever use them. Which size? Do I prefer spiral? I realized that I prefer having all dates clearly separated and with enough room to write tons of things on them. I also prefer having one planner for everything, even to schedule blog posts. And last, I realized that I love weekly desk calendar, where I can make huge lists of to-dos and just remove them after the week is done. This last method helped me be more organized and cross more things from my to-do lists than all the other planners I ever had. So, what should I do? Cute planner or a desk calendar?
