When you live in a windy town and close to THE windy city, finding the perfect outfit is not the easiest of tasks. For example, I now know that as much as I would love to wear dresses in Chicago, it is not the most practical thing as I would be showing my privates more times than I would want to (which is 0, in case you are wondering). Except for those times when I’m attending an event and I know I will only be indoors, my Chicago look always involves shorts or a dress with some kind of yoga shorts underneath.
Gladly, Valpo is not that windy! But I still need to make sure I’m wearing weather appropriate clothes. Whenever I know I will be outdoors, I stick with those favorite denim shorts and a fun summery top. Most of the times this top ends up being too loose and definitely not wind friendly, but a cross body can be a quick-fix for such situations. Other days, like the one in this photoshoot, I go with a midi dress with fitted top, so the skirt might end up making funny shaped but the dress will stay put and there won’t be any uncomfortable situations. I first wrote embarrassing situations, but I do not think it is embarrassing… it is just annoying!
This dress is one of those few pieces in my wardrobe that works great no matter the season. The full tree print can be more spring or summery friendly, but the colors scream for fall! And even though it looks tricky to style, it is also super easy! The colors are mostly yellow, a pinkish shade of brown for the trees and a little bit of green around the prints. I prefer to style it with brown accessories during summer and early fall, but once the days get colder I will start wearing it with black tights and a cardigan!
